Reading – Suggestions for a Fellow Netizen

Back with new pages, new instances.

For the past two days I have been actively writing, honing and polishing, happy to be back on making new Blog pages β€” it had been a while.

Since mid January, the seasonal Blues affected me, and I retreated into a quieter, more introspective mood. A lot of reading, saving some information, considering some ideas I already had started germinating.

And now I am back, inspired and happy.

And the new pages are being well received !

A bit earlier today, I completed a second page, posted and made announcements for it on Fediverse. A fellow user at Qoto.org responded and commented, which for me is very positive.

And after those two, I believe he was out reading β€” not only my page(s), these two are closely related and describe the process of searching for a new Instance which I had embarked in and was really enjoying.

The pages had lots of Reference links for further info; on Glitch-Social instances, and in the more avant-garde Pleroma project, it's features and instances, some guide books, etc..

A bit later, my friend returned

And made this comment :

@design_RG πŸ€—yw!! I am seriously a noob on the world of federated social medias. I only heard of Mastodon less than 6 months ago and still getting used to it. Before that I was a recluse on the loathsome Twitter. So this is all a huge learning curve, but I love learning new things. Thankfully this is a very helpful community for people like me. I am looking into Pleroma! This is super interesting

And that in turn...

Inspired a Long Reply (writing is a pleasure for me – and my reply was so rounded, even as I wrote, it felt almost ready for a new Blog post) :

@gawrsh We all started at some point, and are in the journey, there's always more to be learned if we are open to it, so you are on the good path!

I hope you found a good guide to get you started, as I did (via a Bing search) – I only joined the Fediverse on November 9 last Year or so.

You might not need it anymore, but I just recently laid down at did a careful re-reading of the Guide I always recommend to new users here at Qoto.

This is the one :

β€œIf you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: LifeHacker – A Beginner's Guide to Mastodon β€œ

My conclusion, that it's still a great one, I haven't found a better guide; and I used to search for them. To complement my knowledge and to have references to recommend to others.

I would like to dedicate this page to Beth Skwarecki, with my sincere thank you for helping me and many others get started in Fediverse.

Additional References, other Blog pages :

I am thrilled that you are taking these recent Blog posts and discovering the wonder of finding new and unknown, unexplored places to see β€” as I do love that as well.

Before the Fediverse, I had been in many other places over time, even wrote some blog pages telling the stories (I love story telling, and have a good amount of memories to use).

For reference, when you have a quiet time, want to relax, those are informative and related to Fediverse and what came before it.

And the Famous Last Words...

If you enjoy these, there are other pages with topics that are more recent, like instances being blocked, which instance to choose. I can refer those when you are ready. Well – just one more!
